Regards Graham Pitt  02/14/2012 /news/the-equality-act-2010-42 Equality Act 2010 - Age Related Issues Equality Act 2010 – Age Related Provisions Statement from the Home Office A consultation on proposed exceptions from an age discrimination ban took place last year. The consultation document contained a draft statutory instrument, which included a proposed exception for age based concessions for clubs and associations. Following the consultation, Ministers are considering the proposed age discrimination ban along with the proposed exceptions consulted on. A possible implementation date for a ban is part of their considerations, and it is not currently known when announcements will be made. Thus a revised statutory instrument is not available. As the ban on age discrimination in private clubs and other associations with 25 or more members has not yet been implemented, golf clubs can continue to make whatever decisions they wish based on a member's age. Counsel to the Association; Barry Stancombe, of 3PB chambers in London will continue to closely monitor progress and we will contact all our members when we have any more news to report. There appears to be an opinion that since it was reported that a publican won her case against Sky Television, that it is now legal to screen live matches with this type of equipment. The Directors of Blyth Golf Club have consitently been guided by infomation we receive both from the English Golf Union and the National Golf Clubs Advisory Association. The latest information from the NGCAA organisation is available to view on the Members Area of our Website.
