Blyth Golf Club

Equality, diversity and inclusion

Golf at Blyth is for everyone. We want every member, visitor, junior, volunteer and member of staff to feel welcome at the club, on the course and in the clubhouse.

Our commitment

Blyth Golf Club is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We want the club to reflect the community around it, and we will treat everyone fairly and with respect, whatever their background.

This policy applies to all members, visitors, juniors, volunteers, staff, coaches and committee members, on the course, in the clubhouse and at every club event.

What we will do

  • Keep membership, and access to the course and clubhouse, open to everyone, subject only to the club's rules and capacity.
  • Set membership categories, fees, tee times and competitions fairly, and review them so they do not unfairly exclude any group.
  • Make reasonable adjustments so that disabled members, visitors and staff can take part fully.
  • Recruit, train and treat staff and volunteers fairly and on merit.
  • Make sure the committee and staff understand this policy and their responsibilities under it.

Discrimination and harassment

We will not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation of anyone at the club. This includes unfair treatment because of any of the protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Anyone who breaches this policy may face action under the club's disciplinary procedures, which can include suspension or loss of membership.

Raising a concern

If you feel you have been treated unfairly, or you see behaviour that goes against this policy, please speak to a member of staff or get in touch with the club. Every concern is taken seriously and handled in confidence, and nobody will be treated less favourably for raising a concern in good faith.

Reviewing this policy

The club committee is responsible for this policy. It is reviewed every year, in line with guidance from England Golf.

Welfare and safeguarding

Concerns about the welfare of a child, young person or adult at risk are handled under our safeguarding arrangements. You can find out more on our Safeguarding page.
