How Blyth Golf Club collects, uses and looks after your personal information when you use this website, get in touch with us or sign up to hear from us.
1.Who we are
This website is run by The Blyth Golf Club Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 00096979), whose registered office is at New Clubhouse, New Delaval, Blyth, Northumberland NE24 4DB. In this policy "we", "us" and "the club" mean The Blyth Golf Club Limited.
We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. If you have any questions about it, or want to use any of your rights, contact our Business Manager at businessmanager@blythgolf.co.uk or on 01670 540110, or write to us at the address above.
2.What this policy covers
This policy covers people who visit our website, send us an enquiry, apply for membership, book or enquire about a round, society day or function, subscribe to our newsletter or sponsor the club. How we handle the records of existing members is explained in our members' privacy notice, available on request from the Business Manager.
3.The information we collect
- Enquiries. When you use a form or email us, we collect your name, email address, phone number and the details you give us, such as preferred dates, group size, the type of event or the name of your business or society.
- Membership applications. Details such as your name, contact details, date of birth, handicap and golfing history, and the category of membership you are applying for.
- Newsletter. Your email address and, if you give it, your name and interests.
- Junior golf. For junior enquiries we ask for a parent or guardian's contact details along with the child's name and age.
- Website use. If you accept optional cookies, information about how you use the site, such as pages visited, device and browser type and approximate location, collected by our website provider's analytics.
Tee-time bookings and the Members Area are handled by ClubV1, and open competition entries by HowDidiDo. When you use those services, their own privacy notices also apply.
4.How we use it, and our lawful basis

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
5.Children
Our website is aimed at adults. Enquiries about junior golf should come from a parent or guardian. We handle information about junior members and young people in line with our safeguarding policy and England Golf's safeguarding guidance.
6.Who we share it with
We only share your information with organisations that help us run the club and this website, under contracts that require them to keep it secure and use it only on our instructions:
- Squarespace, which hosts this website and its forms
- Mailchimp (Intuit), which sends our email newsletters
- Microsoft, which provides our email and the membership application form
- Google, which provides the maps on this site and the course status updates
- ClubV1, which provides tee-time booking and the Members Area
- HowDidiDo, which handles open competition entries
- YouTube, which hosts the course videos on this site
Within the club, your information is only seen by the staff and committee members who need it to deal with your enquiry. We may also share information where the law requires it, for example with the police or a regulator.
7.Transfers outside the UK
Some of the providers above store data in the United States or elsewhere outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the UK's approved safeguards, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
8.How long we keep it
- General, society, function and sponsorship enquiries: up to two years after our last contact with you, unless you go on to book or join.
- Unsuccessful membership applications: 12 months.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Financial and booking records: six years, as required for tax and accounting purposes.
After that, we delete your information or make it anonymous.
9.Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies, which the site needs to work, such as remembering your cookie choice and keeping the site secure. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics cookies from our website provider, which help us understand how the site is used. These are only set if you accept them.
- Third-party content such as Google Maps, YouTube videos and the Microsoft membership form, which may set their own cookies when they load.
When you first visit, the cookie banner lets you accept all, decline all or choose which cookies to allow. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Preferences link on the site.
10.Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to us using it
- ask for your information in a format you can pass to another organisation
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To use any of these rights, contact the Business Manager using the details in section 1. There is normally no charge, and we will reply within one month.
11.Keeping it secure
We use password-protected systems and trusted providers, and we limit access to the people who need it. No website can be completely secure, so please do not send us sensitive information through the website forms.
12.Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
