Junior golf at Blyth
A busy junior section, coaching from the pro shop and a clear route into the adult club. Everything a parent needs to know is on this page.
A good place to learn the game
Juniors at Blyth learn with a PGA professional, play in their own competitions and get to know the course alongside other young golfers, then move up into the adult sections when they are ready.
You do not need to play golf yourself, and your child does not need any experience or their own clubs to start.
Three steps into the game
Come to an open morning
A free taster for ages 7 to 16. We provide the clubs, and parents are welcome to stay. It is the easiest way to find out if your child enjoys it.
Have some lessons
Ross Crowe, our Director of Golf, and the pro shop team run individual junior lessons and group sessions through the season.
Join as a junior member
Junior membership brings junior competitions and mornings, coaching through the pro shop and a route into the adult sections.

Coaching through the pro shop
Lessons with a PGA professional who knows the course and the section.

A World Handicap System index, kept up to date through the club, once they are ready.
A route into the adult club

Keeping juniors safe
Blyth Golf Club has a safeguarding policy that covers everyone who works with young people at the club, and a welfare officer parents can speak to in confidence.
If you have a concern about a child, call the clubhouse on 01670 540110 and ask for the welfare officer. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
- Golf balls and clubs can cause serious injuryPlease make sure children are only on the course when they are playing, or with an adult who is supervising them.
- Talk to us earlyIf something does not feel right, tell the welfare officer or the pro shop straight away. You will be listened to.
- Golf etiquette is safetyWait until the group in front is well out of range, stand clear of anyone swinging, and shout “fore” if a ball is heading towards someone.
